NHS waiting lists have fallen to their lowest level in 3.5 years
Extremely pleased to see that NHS waiting lists have fallen to their lowest level in 3.5 years, with over 312,000 fewer people waiting for treatment compared to last year. This is the largest year-on-year reduction in 16 years, with the number of people waiting more than a year dropping by almost half. After years of record waiting lists under the Tories, this is great progress and a testament to the hard work of NHS staff across the country. Alongside this, ambulance respons

The case for regulation of animal rehoming organisations
Earlier this year I sponsored a Dogs Trust event in Parliament highlighting a shocking gap in animal welfare regulation. Rehoming organisations across England, Wales and Northern Ireland remain unlicensed with no inspection regime. I have written about why that needs to change and what a proportionate system of regulation would look like. Uxbridge town centre report
Since being elected in July 2024, my team and I have been taking a range of actions to tackle town-centre issue, from pressing for increased police resources and tougher national rules on shoplifting and mobile phone theft, to working with TfL on fare evasion and transport improvements. I recognise that there is still much to be done to make our town centre the best it can be. It is important for me to continue listening to residents. As a result of this, I arranged a drop-in

Government has closed eleven asylum hotels
Welcome news in Hillingdon! The Government has closed eleven asylum hotels and returned them to local communities, with more closures coming this spring. This includes the Holiday Inn Heathrow in Hillingdon. These closures will save taxpayers nearly £65 million a year, with overall asylum costs already down by nearly £1 billion since this Government took office. This is part of the Government's plan to end the use of asylum hotels entirely this Parliament.

Abolition of the Two Child Cap
The abolition of the Tories’ 2 child benefit cap passed into law. In Uxbridge & South Ruislip alone, that means 3,090 children lifted out of poverty. Increasing the minimum wage, 30 hours free childcare & lifting children out of poverty - this is backing ordinary families who work hard, and deserve a fair deal.

Concerns about the student finance system
We need to have a conversation about the student loans system and deliver change. I went to university on the Plan 1 scheme and I've managed to pay off my debt, but those on Plan 2 are effectively subject to a graduate tax. Last week, I outlined the need for change in my letter to the Chancellor.

Fighting to protect school budgets
