What I was up to in November
As we moved through November, I want to update you on the work my team and I have been doing across Uxbridge and South Ruislip. This month has brought both moments of deep sadness and continued determination to deliver for our community. From demanding answers after a horrific tragedy, to coming together as a community to celebrate our shared values of remembrance and community cohesion. I remain committed to standing up for the place we all call home.

In and around Uxbridge and South Ruislip
Remembering those who served
This month, I was honoured to mark Remembrance Day at services across our constituency. I attended a moving Armistice Day service at St Giles' Church in Ickenham, visited the Speaker's Memorial Garden in Parliament, and joined the Remembrance Sunday ceremony in Uxbridge.
It is our duty to remember those who fought and died for our freedom, many from the UK and the Commonwealth who paid the ultimate sacrifice to give us the freedoms we enjoy today. In Uxbridge and South Ruislip, our Armed Forces are our history, our present, and our future. It is an honour to remember them. Lest we forget.
Fighting for disability equipment access
I spoke to Rhys, my constituent in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, about the struggles people with disabilities face when trying to access essential equipment. This is unacceptable. I've signed a letter calling on the Secretary of State to remove barriers and tackle delays. Everyone deserves timely access to the equipment they need to live their lives with dignity and independence.
Launching Hillingdon Together
Rising hate crimes. Growing tensions. Divisive rhetoric. These don't represent the Hillingdon we know and love.
That's why we've launched Hillingdon Together, bringing local groups, schools, faith groups, and residents together to stand united and promote community cohesion. Our strength lies in our diversity and in our shared commitment to looking out for one another. I'm proud to be part of a community that comes together in the face of division, and I look forward to continuing this work with all of you.

Supporting responsible fireworks regulation
Fireworks can be a great way to mark a celebration, but for many, from ex-servicemen and women to pet owners, firework season is far from a happy occasion. I joined the Firework Impact Coalition to hear opinions around fireworks regulation, including noise limits. It's important we strike the right balance between celebration and consideration for those in our community who are affected. I’ve raised with the Minister the need for updated regulation in this area.
Back to school
Thank you to Bishopshalt School for welcoming me to their Future Friday Talk to discuss my life before becoming an MP and what an average day in Parliament can look like. Speaking to the students and seeing their engagement and curiosity about politics and public service was genuinely inspiring.
Meanwhile in Parliament....
Delivering for our Armed Forces families
After decades of neglect, service families will finally get the homes they deserve. The Government has announced the biggest change to Armed Forces housing in over 50 years, with over 40,000 military homes set to be modernised through a £9 billion investment over the next decade.
Last year the Secretary of State for Defence launched the announcement that the Government will buyback of military homes into public ownership in Ruislip Gardens and this month he’s back in Hillingdon! This time launching the announcement of modernising thousands of homes, including seeing the improvements now underway to our family accommodation in Hillingdon with new roofs, windows, kitchens and other works taking place right now benefiting local service families.
A historic win for renters
The Renters' Rights Bill has received Royal Assent, securing a fairer future for 11 million private renters in England. This landmark legislation abolishes Section 21 'no fault' evictions, ending a practice that has threatened thousands of renters with homelessness.
The Act rebalances the relationship between landlords and tenants, empowering renters to challenge poor conditions and unreasonable rent increases without fear of retaliatory eviction. Tenants will have the right to end tenancies with two months' notice, while legitimate landlord interests are protected through strengthened repossession grounds.
This is the most significant increase to renters' rights in a generation, and it's a major step toward a fairer housing system for thousands of renters in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
Making driving tests fairer and more accessible
Learners have been forced to deal with exploitative third parties just to book their driving tests a practice that is unfair and unacceptable. Far too many learners locally have been waiting sometimes years to secure a test. I have been campaigning with Labour MPs to end this malpractice, and speed up the availability of tests, and I'm pleased to see the Government listening and delivering reforms to make driving tests fairer and more accessible for everyone.
Pushing for fairer council funding
The new Government is reviewing outdated council funding formulas (which decide which council’s get what level of funding). I’ve been making the case that boroughs like Hillingdon deserve fairer funding. For example – we need to better account for deprivation levels, housing costs and other pressures in London.
Hillingdon Council have also proven they can't handle our money responsibly – now applying for a government bailout having effectively reach bankruptcy.
I've written to the Minister and discussed with her the need for fairer funding and an independent review to ensure Hillingdon gets the resources it needs and that those resources are managed properly.
Getting stalled housing sites moving again
It's absurd that, in the middle of a housing crisis, we've got sites like St. Andrews in Uxbridge half-built. Alongside the Government's plans to unlock these sites, I've been pushing the developer to get this one moving again so we can deliver the homes we really need. Our community deserves better than abandoned developments.

We're here to help
Whether it's a local issue affecting your daily life or a national concern you want to raise, my team and I are here to support you. If you need help with any matter, please don't hesitate to get in touch via email, and we will do all we can to assist you.
This has been a difficult month for our community as we come to terms with the tragic loss of Wayne Broadhurst. But it has also been a month that has reminded me of the strength, resilience, and compassion of the people of Uxbridge and South Ruislip. Together, we will get through this, and together, we will continue to build a community we can all be proud of. Thank you for your continued support.
Coffee afternoon in Colham and Cowley
Thanks to everyone who joined last month's coffee meet-up in Colham and Cowley. As always, it was great to hear from residents about the issues that matter to them, from the future of the Rural Activities Garden Centre to protecting our canals, to name just a few. These conversations are invaluable, and I'm grateful to everyone who takes the time to share their thoughts with me.
