What I was up to in March
As we move into another month, I want to update you on the work my team and I have been doing across Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
From celebrating 25 years of The Chimes, to speaking to students at Vyners School, this month has been a busy one. I am always so impressed by the enthusiasm of people in Uxbridge and South Ruislip for making their communities better.
It’s a real honour to get the opportunity to visit so many organisations locally, from charities to sports clubs. Do get in touch with my office if you would like to arrange a visit to your organisation.

In and around Uxbridge and South Ruislip
Tackling Crime and Anti Social Behaviour in our Area
I know how concerned residents are about rates of antisocial behaviour and crime on our streets. Whilst crime across the capital is coming down, I recognise the need for further action.
I raised these issues with the Home Office, and I am glad that the Government has invested a further £1.3 billion more than last year.
Uxbridge Post Office campaign update
I sat down with senior Post Office staff to discuss the community’s concerns about the future of the Uxbridge branch. I then presented my public petition in the House of Commons, urging urgent action ahead of the planned closure of the High Street Post Office.
As the end‑of‑April closure date approaches, finding a suitable alternative site is vital for local residents.
Supporting grassroots football clubs
Politicians shouldn’t praise grassroots football clubs if they don’t support them when in power.
In a letter to the leader of Hillingdon Council, I outlined my serious concerns about the systematic delays and uncertainty football clubs in Hillingdon are being subjected to.
In Parliament
Fair funding for Hillingdon
I am delighted that the Government has updated
outdated funding formulas for local areas so that areas like ours receive the money we deserve.
After Hillingdon Council experienced a 7% real-terms reduction in funding under the previous Government, I am pleased that this Government has awarded an extra £126.7 million for our area.
Working together to end animal cruelty
With another case of swans being killed in Uxbridge, the need to crack down on wildlife crime and implement a Protection Order on catapults has never been more urgent.
Despite Hillingdon Council initially rejecting these proposals, I’m continuing to make the case for action.
Situation in the Middle East
I understand the situation in the Middle East is deeply concerning. You can register your presence to the UK Government here: www.gov.uk/government/news/foreign-office-travel-advice-updates.
