New powers to tackle antisocial behaviour are now in force

Persistent antisocial behaviour can make life miserable for residents and businesses. People across Uxbridge and South Ruislip deserve to feel safe in their neighbourhoods.

The Labour Government has introduced Respect Orders, giving the police and Hillingdon Council stronger powers to take action against repeat offenders responsible for persistent antisocial behaviour in our communities.

Courts can now ban offenders from certain areas or stop them drinking in public places where their behaviour has caused disruption.

Breaking a Respect Order is a criminal offence, with penalties of up to two years in prison in the most serious cases.

These new powers will give local authorities more options to deal with persistent antisocial behaviour and help protect residents across our borough.
