Campaign win! 0% VAT on medicines provided free to NHS patients đź’Š
As Chair of the Access to Medicines APPG, I've worked with patient organisations to challenge VAT charges that were making it harder for pharmaceutical companies to provide life-saving treatments free of charge.
I wrote to the Treasury calling for a permanent solution and secured a parliamentary debate in September to press for action.
The Government has now announced that qualifying medicines provided free of charge will be subject to 0% VAT, with the change backdated to 23 June 2026.
