Campaigns & Local Priorities

Funding for Schools

I'm pleased to share that Bishopshalt School and Uxbridge High School have both been approved for funding through the Government's Condition Improvement Fund.

Over £450 million has been allocated across 813 projects nationally to keep school buildings safe and in good working order.

Uxbridge Town Centre Post Office

The Post Office in Uxbridge has now closed. I know how upsetting this is for residents, who have told me repeatedly how important this service is.

I will continue to hold both the council and Post Office to account until a new Town Centre location is secured.

Campaigning for a Youth Employment Hub

I joined colleagues from Uxbridge College and the Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce to talk about the need for greater opportunities for young people looking for work in Hillingdon.

I’ll be working in partnership with local groups to fight for a Youth Employment Hub in the area.

National Issues

Number of asylum hotels to fall

The Government has closed eleven asylum hotels and returned them to local communities, with more closures coming this spring. This includes the Holiday Inn Heathrow in Hillingdon.

These closures will save taxpayers nearly £65 million a year, with overall asylum costs already down by nearly £1 billion since this Government took office.

Supporting Guide Dogs

It was great to meet with representatives from Guide Dogs to discuss their new report on the experiences of children and young people with a vision impairment in England. Too many children are missing out on the vital specialist support they need to thrive in the classroom and at home.

Heathrow Expansion

While the Government has said that any third runway at Heathrow should be privately financed, there are public sector costs that must be fully accounted for. I called for full transparency on how the Government's four tests will be measured and assessed.

Net migration down 82%

The most recent immigration statistics show the scale of change since Labour took office. Net migration down 82% to 171,000, asylum hotel use down by 35% and small boat arrivals down 41%. The numbers speak for themselves.

Cheaper theme park tickets and children's meals this summer

The Chancellor has announced a temporary VAT cut from 20% to 5% on children's entry to theme parks, zoos, museums, cinemas, soft play and theatres during the school holidays. Children's meals in restaurants and cafes are also included. Great news for families this summer!

NHS waiting lists have fallen to their lowest level in 3.5 years

Extremely pleased to see that NHS waiting lists have fallen to their lowest level in 3.5 years, with over 312,000 fewer people waiting for treatment compared to last year. This is the largest year-on-year reduction in 16 years, with the number of people waiting more than a year dropping by almost half. After years of record waiting lists under the Tories, this is great progress and a testament to the hard work of NHS staff across the country. Alongside this, ambulance respons

ABOUT DANNY

Danny was born in Hillingdon Hospital and raised by his mother in South Ruislip. During his childhood, Danny was made homeless twice, and used his experience as motivation to get involved in Parliament.

Danny has raised a variety of issues in Parliament from flooding to housing, to our struggling NHS to motorists being ripped off by insurance companies, and is an outspoken advocate for his constituents.
