Campaigns & Local Priorities

Hillingdon Hospital

A contractor has now been signed to build the new Hillingdon Hospital, marking a major step forward in delivering the £1.4 billion investment.

This is an important milestone and I met with the newly appointed contractors to discuss the next steps and how they will help turn the plans into reality.

Heathrow Expansion

I am concerned about what a third runway could mean for people across Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

Heathrow is an important part of our local and national economy, but any expansion must work for the communities living alongside it and not come at their expense, and our roads, public transport and green spaces are already under enough pressure without adding to it.

Introducing Future Start - the new Youth Employment Hub

Future Start is now open! This has been a long time in the making and I could not be prouder to see it finally taking shape.

Future Start will bring together Uxbridge College, the Job Centre, the NHS and local businesses to help young people across Hillingdon to access employment opportunities.

National Issues

Fly-Tipping Strategy

Fly-tipping is one of the most common issues raised by residents across Uxbridge and South Ruislip, so I am glad to see this Labour Government has acted, giving councils stronger powers to make offenders pay for the damage they cause and clean up the mess they leave behind.

Social Care Visas

After visiting care providers in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, visa changes come up time and again as a pressing concern. Skilled staff arrive, train up, become experts in their field and then have to leave because of visa restrictions.

I raised this directly with Baroness Casey in the Health and Social Care Committee and asked whether she would support a social care sector visa rather than one tied to individual employers.

Community Mental Health Investment

The Government has announced a £343 million plan to open 159 new NHS mental health centres across England, and Hillingdon will benefit from a new community mental health centre, bringing earlier support for people in our community and specialist crisis care outside of A&E.

We need action to protect our green spaces and deliver homes we need on brownfield sites. The local council has failed to do this. Instead in recent weeks, Conservatives in Hillingdon have been claiming our green spaces- even our parks and playgrounds are under threat. Whilst there are no proposals to build on these sites. ABOUT DANNY

Danny was born in Hillingdon Hospital and raised by his mother in South Ruislip. During his childhood, Danny was made homeless twice, and used his experience as motivation to get involved in Parliament.

Danny has raised a variety of issues in Parliament from flooding to housing, to our struggling NHS to motorists being ripped off by insurance companies, and is an outspoken advocate for his constituents.
